About Ivonne Acevedo

I am native from Puerto Rico, where I grew up in a small town sorrounded by mountains and all kind of animals. On 2003, I moved to Chicago, IL where I worked as a volunteer for several organizations, including The Anti-Cruelty Society, Animal Ark of Forest Park and Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation. It’s in Chicago where I realized that my love for dogs is more than love, it is my passion. In 2007, I enrolled in the Basic Obedience Dog Trainer program with the Animal Behavior College and completed my certification of Dog Trainer in January 2008. I worked with Courteous Canine, Inc. as the Puppy Kindergarden and Basic Obedience Instructor. To further expand my knowledge, I am currently enrolled in the Diploma of Dog Training and Behavior Consulting with the Companion Animal Science Institute (CASI). I am also a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). I offer training and counseling in English and Spanish.

In addition, I hold a bachelor degree in Marketing and a MBA in Human Resources. I am also a Certified Human Resources Professional (PHR). I am happily married and have a baby girl named Daniela and a canine baby named Pancho. Pancho is a 5 year old Golden Retriever and a member of Delta Society Therapy Dogs. He is also certified as an AKC Canine Good Citizen.

Today, Ivonne works with clients all over the Chicago area through Animal Sense and volunteers as a Humane Educator with PAWS Chicago. She visits schools, universities and organizations to talk about the importance of spaying and neutering, dog fighting, animal abuse and the link between animal abuse and violent crimes against people. She is also the only representative in Illinois for the Dogs & Storks program.
